Terrance West a healthy scratch
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Mike Williams is the most surprising healthy scratch today, but Cleveland Browns running back Terrance West is also a pretty significant surprise inactive as a healthy scratch. The Browns seem content with rolling with Ben Tate and Isaiah Crowell as their two-headed monster instead of playing a three-headed monster, but it’s interesting to see that they would outright place West on the gameday inactive list despite his talent and despite the fact that Mike Pettine and the organization have always seemed high on him.

While West seems like a quality back in his own right, it’s clear that Tate and Crowell are more talented, with Tate being the most established option and the explosive Crowell being the most talented rusher on the roster. The Browns will face the rival Pittsburgh Steelers shortly, and they could have another big day on offense against this team, especially since the Steelers defense is less healthy than when these teams first met up in Week 1.
So far this season, Terrance West has averaged a healthy 4.4 yards per carry with two touchdowns, averaging nearly 60 yards per game. His carries, though, have started to fall, culminating in today’s inactive. All eyes will be on Crowell, who could have a big day if he gets the kind of carries we would expect him to with West inactive.
