Mike Evans, Vincent Jackson Injury Updates: Bucs WRs active

As expected, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have their star wide receiver duo of Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans intact for today’s showdown against the Baltimore Ravens and their wide receiver duo of Torrey and Steve Smith, though it’s mostly been the latter doing the damage so far this season (which has been a surprise to many). Smitty and the Buccaneers certainly aren’t strangers, and Lovie Smith also remembers him well from a certain playoff game several years ago.

  • Both Jackson and Evans were listed questionable on the Buccaneers official injury report, but both were expected to suit up today. Evans only ended up missing last week’s game against the New Orleans Saints with a groin injury that he suffered against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and it’s a testament to his toughness that he was never even in doubt for today’s game. Evans’s groin injury in Week 4 did not look good at all, but a multi-week injury turned into a simple one-week off the radar.

Jackson will probably deal with random, nagging injuries throughout his career, but this rib injury is barely an issue worth talking about. He’s clearly a full-go today against the Ravens, and it will be interesting to see how many problems he gives the opposing secondary. If the Bucs can provide adequate blocking for Mike Glennon, then they could break a couple of big plays; they might have to against a pretty darn good Ravens team.
