Denver Broncos star outside linebacker Danny Trevathan missed the first four weeks of the regular season while recovering from an offseason injury, and some were worried that he suffered an aggravation of that injury yesterday. Trevathan left yesterday’s game against the New York Jets with an unspecified left leg injury, and he was seen clutching his left leg. It was a scary incident indeed, and some were worried that he could even be lost for the season.

The bad news is that Trevathan has suffered a significant injury, but the good news is that it isn’t the same as the one he suffered this offseason. According to Broncos official site beat writer Andrew Mason, head coach John Fox stated that he has a fracture above the knee instead of a fracture below the knee.
Trevathan has a crack in the bone "just above the knee" in his left leg. "Nothing remotely the same" compared to his last injury, Fox said.

No timetable for Trevathan’s recovery is clear at this early point, but some have speculated that he could miss around six weeks until this fracture recovers. Again, it’s a significant period of time for the Broncos to miss a star player, but it isn’t a terribly long time on the shelf. The Broncos have more than enough talent to move forward without him, and they will certainly have him for the more critical parts of their season (you know, the playoffs).
