team. 42. If the 49ers get upset tonight, then their ranking will surely shoot down, otherwise they’ll hold the line at 9th. It’s weird to think that they are this far below the Seahawks despite having similar records, but the Seahawks losses also came to the second and third-ranked teams. The Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals are good teams, but the 49ers really should have beaten them. These guys will be a top-five team by the time the year is through, especially once their corners get healthy and the passing game gets going (they are averaging a middle-of-the-pack 6.3 net yards per attempt).. (3-2). . San Francisco 49ers. 9

10. team. 49. The Packers pass defense is pretty darn scary, and it more than makes up for a porous run defense that just about anyone can put up yardage on. <strong><a href=. (4-2). . Green Bay Packers

I know I’m breaking the cardinal rule of power rankings by ranking a team directly above a team they recently lost to, but I think their 20-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts was an anomaly. Plus, you can’t always use the transitive property “If Team B beats Team A, then Team B is better”, because it doesn’t work like that due to the nuances and biases of individual matchups. For example, you wouldn’t rank the Buffalo Bills over the Detroit Lions because they beat them last week, would you? Anyway, the Ravens passing attack is explosive, and they have a better running game and pass defense than the Colts, with the latter being especially important at this stage.. (4-2). . Baltimore Ravens. 11. team. 26
