Teddy Bridgewater gets vote of confidence from Mike Zimmer
The Minnesota Vikings had a long week to prepare for another rival team in the Detroit Lions, but they couldn’t avoid another disappointing loss. Teddy Bridgewater threw three interceptions and did not look like the guy who moved the chains against the New Orleans Saints and tore up the Atlanta Falcons. Bridgewater made uncharacteristic mistakes, as he faced pressure similar to the pressure Christian Ponder was subject to the prior week against the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings offensive line was supposed to be one of the best in the league, but an injury to Brandon Fusco and awful play from Matt Kalil have caused them to become a massive disappointment.

The Viking Age
Bridgewater has received plenty of criticism for the poor decisions he made against the Lions defense yesterday, but he isn’t the one to blame. Therefore, it was good to see Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer give Bridgewater a vote of confidence, even if we wouldn’t expect anything different from the head coach. He said, via the Minneapolis Star Tribune’s Master Tesfatsion, “I believe with all my heart Teddy Bridgewater will be the franchise quarterback for a long, long time.”
So far this season, the first-round pick is averaging 7.5 yards per attempt with those three picks sticking out on the stat sheet in an ugly manner. It’s clear to me that their quarterback is fine and will be excellent in the future, but their offensive line has major issues. Kalil was supposed to bounce back this year after dealing with an injury in a step-back 2013 season, but the third-year pro has been arguably the NFL’s worst OT this season.
