Jarrett Boykin returns to practice
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jarrett Boykin has missed the past three games with a groin injury, and he’ll find that he has been Wally Pipped by the more talented and consistent Davante Adams, who was a revelation in last week’s 27-24 win over the Miami Dolphins. Adams has always shown that he is smarter than most wide receivers his age, and learning the nuances of the game is difficult for most WRs. Not so for Adams, who had the presence of mind to hook up with Rodgers for that memorable pass, while also managing to stay in bounds instead of being tricked by Cortland Finnegan, whom he absolutely dominated all game long.

Anyway, let’s get back to Boykin, who emerged as a serviceable part of the Packers offense in lieu of injuries to James Jones and Randall Cobb. ESPN Wisconsin’s Jason Wilde reports that Boykin returned to practice today, and the fact that he’s practicing on the first day of the week indicates that he should be expected to play against the Carolina Panthers, barring any setbacks on the groin.
In three appearances this season, Boykin caught just two passes for 17 yards, and it’s quite possible he dropped more passes than he caught. Boykin isn’t a bad player, but Adams is clearly better. He’s a more fluid athlete with better hands, and he already has more precise route-running and a better connection with Aaron Rodgers. Boykin is a great No. 4 receiver for the Packers, though, as he did average 13.9 yards per reception last year with three TDs.
