Jadeveon Clowney will be a game-time call
Houston Texans rookie pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney has been out since Week 1, when he suffered a knee injury against the Washington Redskins, as he suffered a torn meniscus. Clowney was initially slapped with a 4-6 week timetable, and that has looked accurate now that he’s expected to have a shot at making his return here in Week 7. Although it’s on the outer edge of the timetable and pushing the envelop since he isn’t a guarantee to play this week, you always have to take the most conservative estimate when it comes to injuries to No. 1 overall picks; teams naturally want to be cautious.

According to ESPN NFL Nation’s Tania Ganguli, Texans head coach Bill O’Brien stated that his star edge rusher will be a game-time decision for this week’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Clowney has a 50-5o chance at suiting up. Clowney has always targeted this week’s Monday Night Football game as his return date, but he won’t receive a full workload if he does play; the team will ease him further by limiting his snaps.
It’s good to see that O’Brien and the Texans are exercising due caution with their future star, as Clowney is simply too good to risk, especially since he does have a bit of an injury history. Even if he receives limited snaps, having Clowney out there against the Steelers would give the Texans a nice boost against Ben Roethlisberger. The Texans will release their injury report tomorrow, and Clowney will almost certainly be listed as questionable.
