Da’Quan Bowers suspended two games

Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Da’Quan Bowers is under the proverbial microscope here in the fourth season of his career, and he’s had just one sack thus far to push his career total up to just 6.5. Bowers is on his last legs with the Buccaneers, and he is running out of chances to impress in this league despite his talent and draft pedigree. His semi-shift to defensive tackle hasn’t been a catalyst for any uptick in production, and it’s clear that he isn’t a fit at the position, as he’s been exposed in the running game more than the Buccaneers would like.

  • To make matters worse, Bowers will be suspended. The NFL Network’s Albert Breer reports that the NFL has suspended the 24-year-old Clemson product, who still has upside worth trying to tap into, for two games for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. Per Breer, the length of the suspension indicates that he has been suspended for using a masking agent.

ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports that Bowers suspension is immediate, and he will be eligible to return to the team on the 3rd of November. The Buccaneers bye week has already passed, so they won’t have him out there against the Minnesota Vikings and the Cleveland Browns, but he will return for the rivalry game  against the Atlanta Falcons on the 9th of the month, which will be an interesting grudge match for the Bucs.
