Percy Harvin Will Have Small Role on Jets Offense
By Ernie Padaon
New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said that Percy Harvin will only have a small role in the Jets offense on Sunday vs the Buffalo Bills.
Percy Harvin was picked up in a trade by the New York Jets last week but he will not be ready to make any big contributions to the team on offense in his first week on the field. He will still have to get up to speed to the New York Jets offense and their playbook. He will get the opportunity to return kicks and punts though. That is somewhere that he can make a nice impact on the field.

Harvin will make a big impact on the Jets offense with Geno Smith running the show, but it won’t be in his first action on the field this Sunday. I am sure that Rex will find a way to mix Percy into the offense, but he won’t have many opportunities to get on the field. We could see some reverses thrown in there and some other screen passes thrown into the mix. They could also work on some basic plays for him, but not the whole playbook in the first week. He will likely get subbed in and out throughout the game.
Percy doesn’t need a lot of reps on the field to make big plays though. He always has that ability to make something happen when he has the ball in his hands. Just let him get in on some of that action and I am sure that he will have the Jets fans begging for more.
