Marshawn Lynch not on the trade block

Seattle Seahawks superstar running back Marshawn Lynch isn’t expected to remain with the team next season, as the Seahawks are more than just dissatisfied with his attitude and will likely choose to part ways with the focal point of their offense. Christine Michael would offer some upside as a replacement, but the Seahawks are expected to draft a top running back, with a first-round pick likely being in play. This year’s upcoming draft class will be the best at the position in a long time, and the first-round backs will be back. Todd Gurley is exactly the kind of player you can make the centerpiece of an offense at RB, and he looks like a tailor-made replacement for Lynch.

More from Seattle Seahawks

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports  that “nobody is really expecting” Lynch to stay with the Seahawks next year, and that speaks volumes about how upset the team is with Lynch, who is famous for being “all about that action”. Unfortunately, his lack of communication has done him in, though he should have no trouble finding a big opportunity if the Seahawks do let him go.

Teams like the New England Patriots are looking to trade for a running back, and the likes of Doug Martin are available. Mort reports that Lynch isn’t one of those players, as the Seahawks aren’t interested in putting him on the trade block this year. This shouldn’t surprise anyone, because the Seahawks can’t afford to trade Lynch with the way their passing game is going. They are looking to add pieces like Vincent Jackson and have no intention of losing one of their biggest pieces; they’ll get rid of him if they can replace him, which would happen in the offseason via the draft (most likely).
