Vincent Jackson Trade Rumors: Kansas City Chiefs interested

The Kansas City Chiefs could use a true No. 1 receiver, and the biggest name on the trading block is Vincent Jackson, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have received interest from several teams, including the Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots, and Philadelphia Eagles. One of the other teams interested in Jackson could allow the former San Diego Chargers star to rejoin the AFC West, and this team also makes plenty of sense as a landing spot due to their need for a true No. 1 receiver.

When asked by a follower if the Chiefs have shown interest in Jackson, the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport replied that the team has indeed shown “some interest” in him. Although Jackson looks like a great fit for many teams that could use a top wide receiver (such as the Seahawks and Patriots), the biggest issue is parting ways with a high pick and taking on his salary. The Buccaneers would like to stockpile top picks, but they aren’t going to trade one of their best players for less than fair value, especially with a number of playoff contenders interested in his services.

Vincent Jackson has 25 receptions for 344 yards and two touchdowns this season, and he would make an even bigger impact with a better quarterback. I think the Patriots and Seahawks make the most sense for Jackson, though it would be interesting to see how he fits with the Chiefs. They desperately need a top WR who can alleviate some pressure off of Alex Smith, who would surely benefit from V-Jax’s size. The 31-year-old wideout can also stretch the field deep, and that would clear out the other receivers. However, if Smith can’t hit him up on deep passes, the only times his speed will make a statistical impact are when the defense “forgets” about him.
