Chicago Bears Matt Slauson done for year
Chicago Bears defensive end Lamarr Houston tore his ACL yesterday while celebrating a garbage time sack of New England Patriots backup rookie quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, and the only thing that justifies his decision to celebrate (obviously, I still feel terrible for him due to the injury) the sack is the fact that it was his first of the year. Houston’s injury is a huge blow, and the Bears suffered another injury to add to the insult of a 51-23 blowout loss.

Bears GM Phil Emery stated today that solid starting left guard Matt Slauson is done of the year with a torn pectoral, and the injury immediately looked bad when he suffered it yesterday in the fourth quarter. Slauson already missed a few games this season with an ankle sprain, but that obviously pales in comparison to this injury. The Bears should still be fine on the offensive line, but this is a tough blow no matter how you spell it.
On the bright side, Slauson won’t need surgery, and Jeff Dickerson of ESPN Chicago reports that he will need 3-4 months of rehab. Eben Britton will be a massive downgrade on Slauson, but at least the Bears have the likes of Brian de la Puente.
Slauson is in the first year of a four-year deal he signed at the beginning of 2014.
