The Philadelphia Eagles should be getting star left guard Evan Mathis and star center Jason Kelce back shortly after both suffered significant injuries, and they will give the Eagles offense a massive boost in the running and passing games. Both players are lynchpins on an offensive line that was easily the best in the NFL last year but has struggled to open up holes this year for LeSean McCoy due to the injuries. McCoy should be able to get back on track once those two return, and quarterback Nick Foles will also be aided by the improved blocking.

But just as Mathis and Kelce are set to return, “NFL sources” tell Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer that veteran right guard Todd Herremans suffered a major injury in Sunday’s 24-20 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, as he tore his left biceps. However, Herremans will show off his trademark toughness by trying to play through the injury despite it should be severe enough to cost him the rest of the season. It’s a risky move for the 32-year-old, and we’ll see if Herremans is able to play through the pain.
McLane notes that Herremans suffered the injury late in the game but did return before mostly just using his non-injured arm to block the opposition. That’s not a good sign, and it will be interesting to see if the Eagles allow him to go through with this rather interesting plan. If they decide to place him on the injured reserve, then the returns of Mathis and Kelce will more than make up for his loss.
