Week six, vs Buffalo Bills (win)

In regards to the style of play calling, the Buffalo game was eerily similar to the Minnesota game. Josh McDaniels was not only running the ball often, but when he called upon Tom Brady, the route concepts were rather shallow. At least, more so than they were in any other week. Unfortunately, the new set of offensive linemen had their worst game together. That said, Brady himself performed better than he had in the Minnesota game.

Though one could argue that the conservative play calling ultimately lead to Brady’s success, that was not quite the case. Sure, his average target depth was shorter, but he was hitting such throws with precision. Furthermore, in the instances in which Brady was intended to throw deeper down the field, he was equally as efficient.

The new rotation of offensive linemen had their worst game as a unit, but even then, it was better than any game that the previous regime had played, aside from the Minnesota game. Of course, when facing Marcell Dareus, Kyle Williams, Mario Williams, and Jerry Hughes, protecting the quarterback is not easy. They had more than their fair share of breakdowns, but luckily, Tom Brady had a poised game and found ways to make time on his own often enough.

Also, Brandon LaFell took the top off of the secondary and Brady telegraphed a number of throws his way, including two touchdowns. Brady did not have to be a world-beater in this game, but he managed it as well as it needed to be managed in order for New England to win.
