Jason Pierre-Paul added to injury report

New York Giants star defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul recorded just two sacks last season and 6.5 the previous year following a ridiculous total of 16.5 sacks in his breakout 2011 season, but JPP has still been a top end despite the receding sack totals in 2012 and 2013. There might not be a better 4-3 defensive end in run defense, and he’s picked up where he left off this season in run D. He’s also been better as a pass rush, consistently disrupting the quarterback and  notching two sacks of his own. Always good for several batted passes, JPP has already used his incredibly long arms to record four passes defended so far this season.

  • According to the New York Daily News’s Ralph Vacchiano, the Giants have added Pierre-Paul to the injury report for the team’s big Monday Night Football game against the Indianapolis Colts, as he did not practice today due to a shoulder injury. That said, JPP is only listed as probable on the injury report, so he is still fully expected to be out there. Considering his importance to the team, that’s definitely great news.

Even though he’s only listed probable, late additions to the injury report are always worth monitoring as a “just in case” policy, especially if the injury is to one of the league’s best and most underrated (yes, JPP is probably underrated at this point, since some people aren’t willing to praise him enough) defensive ends in the NFL.
