St. Louis Rams will start Greg Robinson at LT
St. Louis Rams rookie offensive lineman Greg Robinson received plenty of lofty praise during the pre-draft process, as he was regarded as one of the prospects with the most upside in the draft class. Some had Jake Matthews ranked above Robinson, but the Auburn Tigers product had some of the most touted physical tools in the class, largely due to his elite run blocking in college. Robinson has started his rookie year as the team’s left guard due to their depth at tackle, but he will finally get a chance to protect Austin Davis’s blindside.

According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Rams will start Robinson at left tackle in tomorrow’s rematch against the rival San Francisco 49ers, and Robinson will certainly be tested in pass pro. So far this season, he’s been at his best when paving the way for the Rams various running backs, and he was a raw pass protector coming out of college. The Rams offensive line has been a disappointment this season, but I’d say that Robinson has joined ace tackle Joe Barksdale as a bright spot on the line.
With Jake Long done for the year with another ACL tear, Robinson has a great chance to assert himself as the LT for good, and Long has a strong chance of being Wally Pipped. He’s too expensive to get rid of, but it’s clear that Barksdale is well-worth starting, and Robinson has even more upside.
