Darren Sproles, A.J. Green Injury Updates

Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles suffered a sprained MCL in the team’s Week 6 win over the rival New York Giants, and he nearly played last week against the Arizona Cardinals after making plenty of progress on the injury during the bye week. Despite the fact that he was practicing, Chip Kelly wisely decided to hold him out, and Sproles has been practicing fully since. He’s always been expected to play, and Sproles, who was listed probable on the injury report, is indeed active today against the Houston Texans. The Eagles will also get a boost with Jason Kelce back after missing several weeks with a sports hernia, while the Texans won’t have either Jadeveon Clowney or Brian Cushing on defense.

  • Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver A.J. Green was also always expected to be active today against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he will indeed play today. If the Bengals end up blowing out the Jaguars, then Green will likely be pulled from the game early, since there’s no sense in risking anything, especially with a quick Week 10 turn-around against the rival Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night Football. That’s obviously a much bigger game for the Bengals, so today’s game against the Jags is all about easing Green into things.

So far this season, Green has caught 17 passes for 314 yards and two touchdowns, and he and Mohamed Sanu could form a formidable duo at the position, as Sanu played very well in his absence. Aside from getting owned by elite CB Vontae Davis, Sanu was excellent in the other two games Green missed, making our “Top 5 WRs of the Week” against the Carolina Panthers and, more impressively, Baltimore Ravens.
