Darren Sproles Injury: RB ‘should be good to go’

Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles did not play against the Arizona Cardinals last week after suffering a sprained MCL in the team’s Week 6 SNF blowout win over the rival New York Giants, and Sproles wasn’t really expected to play either. He did get a bye week to rest, but he was set to miss the standard 2-3 weeks (in his case, 1-2 games thanks to the bye) due to the injury. Sproles made such a quick recovery that he nearly played against the Cardinals, and he stated that he wanted to play but that it would be Chip Kelly’s decision; Chip made the right call.

  • Per an “Eagles source” close to the NFL Network’s Stacey Dales, Sproles was “very close” to suiting up against the Cardinals last week, and Dales states that the scat back “should be good to go”.

At this point, Sproles is guaranteed to play against the Houston Texans, who have never won a game against the Eagles in their franchise’s history, because he is only listed probable on the injury report. The fact that he has practiced fully throughout the week shows you just how quickly he has recovered from the MCL sprain, and he should cause the Texans defense plenty of problems if given the touches. The Eagles offense is only about to get even better, as Jason Kelce is back and Evan Mathis will be joining him shortly.
