Jordan Cameron Injury: Browns TE ‘very unlikely’ next week

Cleveland Browns tight end Jordan Cameron has already been ruled out for today’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as the Browns made the call on Friday to hold him out. Cameron suffered a concussion in last week’s win over the Oakland Raiders, and it’s been noted several times that this is the third concussion in two years for the star TE. There was simply no way for him to get through the concussion protocol this week, so the Browns made the easy decision to simply inactivate him earlier than Sunday.

More from Cleveland Browns

Per sources close to CBS Sports’s Jason La Canfora, it is “very unlikely” for Cameron to suit up next week against the Cincinnati Bengals, as he doesn’t have much time to clear the concussion protocol before that Thursday Night Football game. The Browns will still hold out hope that he can play in that important game, but it’s all about getting through the concussion protocol. With someone like Cameron, it’s also always better to err on the side of caution, as he is an important player who has a history of concussions.

La Canfora reports that Cameron’s concussions could impact contract negotiations with the Browns, and it’s clear that his concussions and injury issues will hurt his pocketbook next offseason. I’m sure the Browns would like to have him back, but it might not be at the price that Cameron wants. That’s a storyline to watch for as the season rolls on, but the most important thing right now is hoping that he can get healthy.
