A.J. Green Injury: Snaps will come based on how team is doing

Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver A.J. Green will play today against the Jacksonville Jaguars after missing three weeks with an aggravated toe injury, and the Bengals will continue to do their best to manage his injury. He might not be 100% at all for the rest of the season, but he should be healthy enough to make his usual, profound impact on the Bengals offense; his importance definitely extends to the running game, too.

Today’s game against the Jags is a nice, easy matchup for the Bengals, as they should be able to dispose of their opponents with relative ease, and Green has the potential to own the opposition. Since they are facing an easy opponent, they don’t actually need Green, so it will be interesting to see if the Bengals limit him in any way.

Per a source close to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, Green’s snap count will depend on how well the Bengals are doing, because they will obviously be more inclined to let him rest if they are pulverizing the Jaguars. If the Jags give them a little bit of a scare, then Green’s snaps would most likely go up. The standard number of snaps for a player truly on a pitch count is 30, as that’s a little less than half of what a player would normally get. Snaps obviously fluctuate, so we’ll have no idea how many times Green will line up today. Even if he is very limited, he could still have a big impact, especially since a limited day from Green would be caused by a big day from the offense, meaning that he could leave the game if he already had big plays that helped the Bengals put up points.
