Washington Redskins bus involved in accident

On most Sunday mornings, there is a huge circulation of NFL news dealing with injury updates, coaching rumors, and even some rumors involving players who could hit the free agent market in the following offseason. Today, news has emerged that doesn’t fit into one of these three categories, and it’s a scary gameday update indeed.

  • Per a source close to FOX Sports’s Mike Garafolo, the Washington Redskins team bus was involved in an accident on their way to the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome for their 1:00 p.m. ET matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Thankfully, Garafolo reports that nobody suffered any “major injuries”, though some players were unsurprisingly “shaken up” by the accident.

It will be interesting to see if the Redskins are forced to play without a few players due to the accident, but the biggest thing here is that nobody (as it is being reported) suffered any major injuries. An accident involving a team bus is one of the last things you want to hear, because there have been a few tragic incidents involving team bus/plane accidents throughout sports history. I’m glad that this isn’t one of them, but we’ll see if any Redskins players were indeed hurt today.

Robert Griffin III is set to return today to face the Vikings, but that storyline is on the back-burner until kick-off time.
