Fred Jackson not practicing today

Buffalo Bills veteran running back Fred Jackson suffered a groin injury in the team’s Week 7 loss to the New England Patriots, but at least his injury was only expected to be a four-week injury, as C.J. Spiller ended up exiting that blowout loss with an even more severe injury. The Bills are coming off of their bye week and have the Kansas City Chiefs up next in Week 10, but it’s unclear if they will be able to have Jackson back this week. My tentative guess is for him to sit out another week, though he should end up being listed questionable on the injury report.

  • WGR 550’s excellent Joe Buscaglia reports that Jackson was not spotted at practice today, though I don’t think anyone would have expected to see him on the practice field today. His timetable indicates that a return this week is possible, especially since Jackson has been consistently known to return much earlier than expected from these types of multi-week-but-not-major injuries.

Jackson is dealing with a torn adductor longus, but he should be back to face the rival Miami Dolphins at the latest. I think it makes sense to hold him out against the Chiefs and let him face a rival team, since the Bills have a quick turn-around before facing the Dolphins on Thursday Night Football in Week 11; a Week 10 return seems a little too soon, but we’ll see.
