Cleveland Browns superstar wide receiver Josh Gordon will be eligible to return from his suspension in Week 12 against the Atlanta Falcons horrific defense, and we have no indication that he will be held out beyond that initial activation date. It’s fair to wonder if Gordon will need a week or two to get back to his all-world level of play, but at least one plugged-in Browns beat writer doesn’t think that will be the case.

In a mailbag feature yesterday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Mary Kay Cabot was asked if Gordon would have to shake off any rust upon his return before playing at a high level, but Cabot states that “adrenaline” will take over and allow him to immediately play at a high level. Gordon has been able to work out at the team’s facilities, and, since he knows he’s one misstep away from being axed, he’s most likely working as hard as possible to stay in shape. He only has a handful of games to show off his elite ability, and I’m sure he intends to make the most out of those games.
As I said in the first paragraph (and as everyone following the NFL has seen this season), the Falcons are a great team to face if you are a skill position player, because they have arguably the NFL’s worst defense. Gordon should have no trouble putting together a strong 2014 regular season debut against that secondary, even if they have a talented CB in Desmond Trufant; it’s a nice game for Gordon to get back into the swing of things.
