Pittsburgh Steelers Ryan Shazier only suffered minor injury

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie inside linebacker Ryan Shazier returned from a sprained MCL in Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers, and he shined in his first game back. Although Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers offense were the main talking points in the team’s 51-point outburst against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8, Shazier looked excellent, and he continues to show that he is already one of the league’s most impressive linebackers in coverage.

  • Roethlisberger and the Steelers offense were at it again in yesterday’s blowout win over the rival Baltimore Ravens, but Shazier didn’t have it as good in Week 9, as he was forced from the game with an ankle injury after trying to play through it. This second injury to Shazier caused some stir, as his status was, of course, immediately uncertain.

Thankfully, the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that it doesn’t seem like the talented Ohio State product has suffered a significant injury, as he reports that Shazier’s injury has been described as a “twisted ankle”. He finished off the tweet by stating that the rookie’s injury is “minor”, and that’s definitely terrific news for the 6-3 Steelers, who have an awful lot to feel good about.

So far this season, Shazier has made good on his first-round status with 26 tackles, a pass defended, and plenty of flashes, particularly when it comes to his coverage ability.
