Atlanta Falcons Could Pursue Jim Harbaugh in Offseason

The Atlanta Falcons will be looking to add a big name head coach in the offseason after they fire head coach Mike Smith. Smith is in a terrible situation at the moment. Everyone is talking about his dismissal at the end of the year and there still is a half of a season that needs to be played. It still is inevitable that he will be let go at the end of the year.

More from Atlanta Falcons

With his dismissal, a hot name in Atlanta is San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh. The Falcons might make the move to bring him over and could trade some draft picks in order to make it happen. Harbaugh’s track record in college and with the San Francisco 49ers is there. He has shown that he can win in the NFL and he can turn a team around. He took over a team that had QB Alex Smith running the show and found a way to win. He turned the defense around in San Francisco and it is now regarded as one of the best in the league.

What could he do with an offense that has Julio Jones and Matt Ryan on it? What could he do with a defense that has very little fire?

It seems like owner Arthur Blank is willing to find out. If it is not Harbaugh, it is another big time coach that he wants to take a chance on.

Mike Smith has wore out his welcome and someone needs to motivate these guys on the field. Harbaugh seems like a solid choice to run the show, but how much will it cost the team and who would he want to bring in as the general manager?

If Harbaugh does end up in Atlanta, he will need to find someone to create some time for Matt Ryan. He will need to find some people that can make holes in the run game. This team has more issues than the head coach, but the head coach will often take the blame for it all.

Who else should this team consider to be the head coach for this team?
