It was the comeback story that we all wanted to happen for San Francisco 49ers RB Marcus Lattimore. He had a devastating injury in college and was one of the top backs that would have been entering the draft, but he suffered a devastating injury before he was able to get on the field.
He put in the work to get into the combine and showed that he was going to be dedicated to make it back, but there were a number of people that had their doubts. He spent off of last season grinding to get back on the field, but was placed on the IR list and never got his chance. He had more time to recover from his injury and more time to build up the strength in his knee.
He just kept on grinding this season in an attempt to get on the field, until finally he calls it quits today. The knee just could not get to the level that would be suitable for the NFL and he has to hang up his helmet and cleats without seeing the field.
