It’s amazing what one can do with raw talent and passion for the game. And if there is anyone that falls right in this category, it’s none other than Rob Gronkowski. After a slow start, he’s come back smarter, stronger, faster and some might argue, better. With his numbers steadily gaining speed, and several weeks still left in the season, is Rob Gronkowski a darkhorse MVP candidate?

More from New England Patriots

With a crushing blow to the Patriots offense in Week 14 last year, Cleveland Browns safety T.J. Ward delivered the late hit heard round Boston that caused Gronkowski the rest of the season, and almost 9 months rehabbing a torn ACL and MCL. But as the old saying goes, Gronkowski didn’t let the now Bronco Ward fool him again this past Sunday, quickly trotting over the safety in another attempt to take him out. Haters gonna hate, especially when they are getting schooled… so let the punks be punks.

“how the (bleep) did you catch that?” – Tom Brady

After an ESPN Top 10 #1 play with his phenomenal one-handed catch in traffic this past Sunday, even Tom Brady was amazed–probing him to say, “how the (bleep) did you catch that?” we all learned Tuesday night on Inside the NFL. Gronkowski is like a medical miracle, defeating the odds after a slew of surgeries that could have been career ending. One year removed from a torn ACL, we all remember Adrian Peterson winning the offensive MVP in 2011 after suffering from a similar devastating injury. Perhaps history can repeat itself with another player who faced the same fate. Only time will tell.

But aside from a pretty amazing season thus far despite the slow start, Rob Gronkowski is vital to the Patriots offense and hopes of going past the AFC Championship game that seems to keep them at bay season after season. While they have some stiff competition, putting the Broncos to bed early this past Sunday proves that they can win out against tough competition. And from the looks of it, the Broncos will probably be their biggest competitor.

Sure the Patriots have other offensive weapons that work well for them, but none of them compare to the beast that won’t stop Gronk Spiking. He isn’t looking to slow down any time soon, impressing week after week with what he does best–dominating the competition. God put Gronkowski on this earth to play the game of football, there is no doubting that. So Gronk, stay healthy my friend.
