Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice could be reinstated if former U.S. District judge Barbara S. Jones decides to rule in the maligned Rutgers product’s favor, as she heard his appeal earlier this week in New York. Rice’s career is at a crossroads, but he has a legitimate case to be reinstated immediately, since the league did a terrible job of handling his punishment. His argument was likely focused on how he should have only been suspended for six games instead of an indefinite suspension, and it sounds like we can expect a swift decision.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports, via NFL.com’s Conor Orr, that a decision on Rice could be made in three weeks, since Jones is expected to make a quick decision once she receives final briefs from both parties. We have no indication as to which way she is leaning, and her ruling will be met with some sort of controversy no matter what; not everyone is going to be happy with it.
Rapoport reports that Rice has been keeping in playing shape in the hopes that somebody will sign him, and we’ve already heard contenders like the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts thrown around. If I were a GM, I would stay away from Rice, because even though he is a talented player, I don’t think he’s good enough to justify the headache he will cause.
