Reggie Bush still not practicing
Detroit Lions veteran running back Reggie Bush has slogged through a disappointing season thus far with a bum ankle, and it looks like he will miss this week’s huge game against the Arizona Cardinals. Bush did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, and it started to seem like the Lions were intent on resting him this week. It’s a big game, but the Lions have plenty of talent at running back, and Theo Riddick’s ridiculous agility and explosiveness in the passing game make him more likely to go off against the Cardinals, who could have major issues containing the rising scat back.
According to ESPN NFL Nation’s Michael Rothstein, Bush did not practice today, and the fact that he hasn’t practiced at all this week means that he will almost certainly be ruled inactive. I fully expect the Lions to list him doubtful on the injury report, though it is possible they could try and play guessing games with a top opponent by listing him as questionable.
Bush is averaging just 3.6 yards per carry this season, and he’s only run the ball more than ten times on two occasions, with both being 12-carry outings against the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets in Week 3 and Week 4. He was much more effective last season with 4.5 YPC, and maybe some rest on his ankle will help him get back to that level of play.
