Jordan Cameron, Phil Taylor Injury Updates

The Cleveland Browns look set to have free safety Tashaun Gipson out there on Sunday against the Houston Texans, as he returned from a concussion to practice today. However, that’s just about the only good news on the injury front for the Browns, because the rest of it is quite bleak. Star tight end Jordan Cameron suffered a concussion a couple of weeks ago and has already miss his expected two games, but he will now almost certainly miss a third straight game after not being able to practice at all this week.

More from Cleveland Browns

In fact, Cameron has already been ruled out this week, and his future remains cloudy because of his latest concussion, which is even more severe than the previous ones he’s suffered in the NFL. According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Mary Kay Cabot, Browns head coach Mike Pettine doesn’t even sound sure if he’ll get Cameron back at all this season. It’s a concerning development, especially the 26-year-old TE is set to hit free agency in 2015.

While Cameron has a chance at being out for the rest of the season, we know that solid defensive lineman Phil Taylor is indeed for the rest of the season. Cabot reports that Taylor has been placed on the injured reserve with a knee injury that isn’t related to a previous knee injury, but it actually sounds worse since, per Cabot, he’ll need to undergo another procedure on his knee at some point next week.

Taylor’s loss certainly hopes, but it’s not a huge blow since the Browns have plenty of other talented player on their defensive line, such as John Hughes, who remains arguably the NFL’s most underrated player.
