New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks out 2-4 weeks with broken thumb
By Ernie Padaon
New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks suffered a broken thumb over the weekend and will likely be out for 2-4 weeks with the injury.
The New Orleans Saints were at the top of the division on their own just a couple of weeks ago, but they have lost 2 straight games and now have lost their rookie wide receiver for 2-4 weeks. Cooks broke his thumb over the weekend and will miss time.
Cooks has been the team’s top receiver this season with 53 catches for 550 yards. The Saints will face the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers next on the schedule.
Even though the Saints have lost their last couple of games, they still are tied at the top of the division with a 4-6 record. They are tied with the Atlanta Falcons. The record is terrible, but the rest of the division has been playing poorly so it will allow one of these teams to sneak into the playoffs.
With Cooks out, Robert Meachem will get more playing time. Nick Toon and Joe Morgan could see more action as well. The team will need to get this thing rolling soon if they would like to get into the playoffs. The rest of the division sucks, but at some point the team will need to get some wins.
