What if: the St. Louis Rams drafted Robert Griffin III?

Long-term outcome:

So the Falcons and the Ravens play in the Super Bowl of 2012, but what happens to the Redskins and the Rams in the future?

Well, much like he did in St. Louis, Sam Bradford underwhelms in Washington, and the Redskins give up on Bradford after injuries and mistakes plague his 2012 and 2013 campaigns. Without the resurgent 2012, the Redskins fire Mike Shanahan and get former Oregon Ducks head coach Chip Kelly to be the head man in Washington.

With Kelly as the head coach the Redskins finish 2013 with a 6-10 record, which gives them the tenth overall pick in the draft. See, unlike reality, the Redskins still have their first-round pick because they never traded for RG3. So with their first pick in the 2014 draft the Redskins are in a position to get a quarterback, but instead, they trade back in the draft to the 20th spot.

The Redskins still are still devoid of a franchise quarterback, and Blake Bortles has already been taken. So with a need at quarterback and a need to fill seats, the Washington Redskins select Johnny Manziel with the 20th overall pick. The Cleveland Browns try to move up, but the Redskins won’t budge, so the Browns end up drafting Teddy Bridgewater with the 22nd pick.

Kelly, who has gone on record saying Manziel is ‘tailor made’ for his offense, could not be happier with his coveted rookie. In fact, Manziel was originally slated to play at Oregon under Kelly, but he would later de-committ.

Fans go wild and President Barack Obama, a Bears fan, even does Manziel’s signature money sign. Instead of having an entourage consisting of LeBron James and Drake, Manziel now acquaints himself with Washington Nationals superstars Stephen Strasburg and Bryce Harper, Washington Wizards point guard John Wall, Washington Capitals right winger Alexander Ovechkin and hip-hop artist Wale, who is a D.C. native. The combination of Manziel and Ovechkin is lethal on the late-night scene, and Wale, who is a very passionate ‘Skins fan, let’s Manziel rap on a track with him. Manziel can be seen court side at Wizards games high-fiving with Wall, and he even throws out the first pitch at a Nationals game, before enjoying a hefty “Strasburger” with a nice beer to wash it down.

Okay, I’m getting just a little bit off topic.

The ‘Skins are initially prepared to keep Manziel on the bench, but after a season opener in which starter Sam Bradford gets brutalized by J.J. Watt‘s Texans, “Johnny D.C.” is ready to start come week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

And what a debut it is for the party-loving Manziel.

Manuel looks like a young Sammy Baugh (a favorite of my dad’s) against the atrocious Jaguars, and he has a debut not dissimilar to RG3’s real-life debut against the New Orleans Saints. Manziel leads the ‘Skins to a four-game win streak that eventually ends with a trip to Arizona.

For St. Louis, RG3 regresses slightly, but not nearly as much as he has in reality. The Rams have a good, reliable offense with consistency at the quarterback position. The Rams remain competitors in the fierce NFC West.

So to recap: Robert Griffin III is a Ram, Sam Bradford is an (injured) Redskin, the Falcons play in Super Bowl 47 and Johnny Manziel resides in Washington.
