Cordarrelle Patterson, Matt Asiata Injury Updates
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson was supposed to explode this season, but he’s struggled to make a huge impact due to some inconsistent play. In fact, his low catch rate has held the offense back a bit, as Norv Turner has struggled to create opportunities for the electric playmaker. Patterson simply isn’t developed enough as a wide receiver or route-runner to get open on his own, so he has to rely on the offense to manufacture touches for him. It’s been a disappointing season for the former first-round pick out of Tennessee, but continued improvements will help him have a much better season in 2015 as a potential third-year breakout star.

Patterson suffered ankle and knee injuries in last week’s close loss to the rival Green Bay Packers, but he downplayed the significance of both injuries. However, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune’s Master Tesfatsion reports that Patterson is among those not practicing today, so his status is worth watching closely. We’ll know more about the wideout’s status later today, but we won’t know about the severity of his injuries until later on in the week.
Vikings running back Matt Asiata was unable to play against the Packers due to a concussion, but Tesfatsion reports that he is back on the field today. Asiata is on schedule to play against the Carolina Panthers this week, but the tricky nature of concussions means that his status isn’t a lock just yet.
