Cecil Shorts, Davante Adams Injury Updates
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts is just 26, but he’s the veteran of the team’s wide receiver corps, which could develop into the best in the NFL at some point in the future. Allen Robinson is out for the season, but he looked way less raw than expected and was one of the most impressive rookies in what should end up being a legendary WR class. Meanwhile, Allen Hurns continues to be one of the UDFA stories of the season, and second-round pick Marqise Lee has plenty of upside.

Shorts has already missed a few games this season and seemed to be at risk of not suiting up this week due to the flu. However, the Florida Times Union’s Ryan O’Halloran reports that Shorts is back at practice today after missing yesterday’s session. Although Shorts has missed plenty of time throughout his career with nagging injuries, his toughness has never been in question; he proved that last season by playing through a nasty shoulder sprain.
While Shorts is back at practice today, Green Bay Packers solid rookie and No. 3 wide receiver Davante Adams was not spotted during today’s session. ESPN NFL Nation’s Rob Demovsky adds a helpful photo and notes that if Adams is unable to play, then the Packers will be short-handed against an elite secondary that contained Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate last week. Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb are also an elite wide receiver duo, and they do have a much better QB throwing passes to them. As Darrelle Revis said, this is going to be the Patriots toughest test so far on defense. That said, it will get easier if Adams doesn’t play, so his status must be monitored closely.
Update: Adams was officially listed as a limited participant with a heel injury.
