Julius Thomas, Jace Amaro Injury Updates

Denver Broncos star tight end Julius Thomas missed last week’s game against the Miami Dolphins with an ankle injury, and his status for this week’s big Sunday Night Football game against the Kansas City Chiefs was highly questionable entering the practice week. Thomas was unable to get on the field yesterday, but the Denver Post’s Mike Klis reports that he is at practice today. That’s obviously good news and puts him on track to play this week, but we need to see him practice again tomorrow in order to get a better idea of his chances of playing; he could end up being a game-time decision.

More from Denver Broncos

The Chiefs are out for revenge after being upset by the then-winless Oakland Raiders, so this rivalry game means that much more to Andy Reid’s squad. They will have to hope that Justin Houston and Co. can get every ounce of pressure on Peyton Manning, because their secondary doesn’t seem well-equipped to stop Orange Julius and the Broncos elite passing attack.

New York Jets tight end Jace Amaro is in doubt for the team’s Monday Night Football matchup against the Miami Dolphins, who narrowly lost to the Broncos last week, and the New York Post’s Brian Costello tweets that the Texas Tech rookie did not practice today. The Jets rivalry MNF game last week was a complete disaster, so we’ll see if Geno Smith and the Jets can do a much better job this week, though it will be against a more difficult opponent. If Amaro can’t play, then the WRs will get even more looks. He is currently dealing with a concussion and is still in the protocol, so nobody expects him to suit up at this point.
