New York Jets Muhammad Wilkerson not expected to play

As if this season could get any worse for the New York Jets, injuries are beginning to take a toll on Rex Ryan’s squad. ESPN New York Jets reporter Rich Rimini is reporting that defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson will likely miss New York’s clash with AFC East rival Miami on Monday night with a toe injury.
Wilkerson suffered the injury during Monday night’s 38-3 defeat against the Buffalo Bills. Cimini also stated that Wilkerson was in a boot at Wednesday’s practice, as the team began preparations for this week’s divisional matchup.
Head coach Rex Ryan commented on Wilkerson’s injury at Wednesday’s practice:
"“It doesn’t look good for Big Mo,” Ryan said. “If you’re in a boot, that doesn’t look good for this week. But, hopefully, we’ll get him back as soon as we can.”"
While the Jets don’t expect to miss Muhammad Wilkerson for too long, it’s very possible that he could also miss next week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
In Wilkerson’s absence, it is expected that former North Carolina Tar Heels defensive end Quinton Coples will replace the former All-Pro. The Jets could be even lighter at the defensive end position on Monday, with Sheldon Richardson also battling a nagging back injury. Richardson’s injury was sustained against Buffalo as well, and he didn’t participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Rookie tight end Jace Amaro (head) will likely miss the Miami game as well, as he’s been placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol. In the event that Amaro isn’t ready to go, New York is prepared to sign tight end Chris Pantale from the practice squad.
