Jadeveon Clowney Injury: Rookie ruled out against Titans
Houston Texans rookie pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney first returned from his serious knee injury in Week 8, as he faced off against fellow rookie Taylor Lewan and the Tennessee Titans. Unfortunately for both him and the Texans, he won’t be able to partake in the rematch with the AFC South rivals, as Texans official site beat writer Deepi Sidhu tweets that defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel stated that Clowney will not be able to suit up.
It’s more tough news for Clowney, who hasn’t been able to see the field much this season, and this follows a final season at South Carolina that was also filled with injuries. We can only hope that he’s able to return to the field soon, because this isn’t the kind of rookie season anybody envisioned from Clowney. The knee injury continues to hold him back, and he was also dealing with an illness earlier this year. Since injuring his knee in Week 1 against the Washington Redskins, Clowney has played in just three games, though he did have his best day last week by recording three tackles against the Cincinnati Bengals.
With Clowney out, Zach Mettenberger will have a better chance of replicating last week’s yardage totals, so he and Bishop Sankey will continue to be the two rookies worth watching the closest on Sunday.
