17. Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals (+2)
These are Dalton’s numbers since that horrible Thursday night game against Cleveland: 40 for 57, 553 yards, 4 touchdowns, and one interception. That would be a 117.1 passer rating. These two weeks are arguably the best quarterback play by an AFC North quarterback besides Ben Roethlisberger’s two-week span where he threw 12 touchdowns.
18. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers (± 0)
No movement for Newton coming off his bye week.
19. Eli Manning, New York Giants (+1)
Terrific game for Manning other than that interception. Although it was tipped, the throw was high – simply not a good pass. On the other hand, Odell Beckham, Jr. helped Manning out immensely.
20. Drew Stanton, Arizona Cardinals (-4)
Playing against Seattle’s defense is tough, but Stanton missed on some throws that an NFL quarterback should be able to make in his sleep. While Stanton is a downgrade from Carson Palmer, Arizona should still be in a good position in the division and conference even without Palmer.
21. Kyle Orton, Buffalo Bills (+3)
Orton and co. beat the Jets up on Monday night. Orton was able to complete 75% of his passes with two touchdowns and no picks – that’s an efficient game, and Buffalo put up 38 points in the process. Maybe the Bills should cancel practice more often.
22. Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders (+1)
The Raiders finally got a win, and Derek Carr is looking like a good investment as a second round pick. I’ve heard some mainstream media people suggest something ridiculous like “Robert Griffin to Oakland” – no. Surround Carr with some weapons and he can turn the franchise around. From a Jon Gruden parody account:
23. Shaun Hill, St. Louis Rams (-2)
I said before that benching Austin Davis was a poor decision – that may have been validated on Sunday, but I’m not sure if Davis would’ve played better than Hill against San Diego. St. Louis has defeated some good teams (Denver, Seattle), yet remains a good quarterback away from being a contender.
24. Teddy Bridgewater, Minnesota Vikings (+6)
Although Minnesota lost, Bridgewater kept up with Aaron Rodgers for much of the day. He wasn’t perfect, but that’s just growing pains of being a rookie quarterback.
