Mike Pettine maintains he will name QB on Wednesday

The Cleveland Browns pulled Brian Hoyer yesterday after another turnover-filled performance, and it truly seems like rookie QB Johnny Manziel will give this team a better chance at winning. Not only did he lead the team to a TD drive, but his superior arm talent will suit the playmaking talents of Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron better. His rushing ability will also be a big boon to this offense, especially since they already have a fully legit feature back in explosive rookie Isaiah Crowell, who is in an excellent situation with this organization.

More from Cleveland Browns

On Sunday, Browns head coach Mike Pettine stated that he would name his starting quarterback on Wednesday, and he is standing by that expected date, which isn’t a surprise for those who followed the QB competition in August. According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Mary Kay Cabot, Pettine added that GM Ray Farmer will also be involved, and it will be interesting to see if the man who oversaw the drafting of Manziel (unless if it was actually Jimmy Haslam, but that’s beside the point) will be more inclined to give him the start.

I think most people expect the Browns to roll with Manziel after already pulling Hoyer, and the stability that was once touted as a plus with Hoyer is no longer a significant positive, as he hasn’t made good decisions lately. I have a hard time believing that Hoyer gives the Browns a better chance, especially since Kyle Shanahan knows how to use a quarterback with Manziel’s skill-set.
