Davante Adams Makes Packers Passing Game Difficult to Stop

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams has provided another option on offense for Aaron Rodgers to combine with Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson. Who are defenses going to cover on that offense? Teams don’t have that many good corners on their roster to cover all of these threats and Aaron Rodgers will get the ball to one of them.

More from Green Bay Packers

The Patriots tried to take away Cobb and Nelson last weekend by placing Darrelle Revis one-on-one against Randall and then having Brandon Browner on Jordy with a little help shading on his side. It seemed like a decent plan, but that just left Adams matched up with Kyle Arrington covering him. Aaron took advantage of that matchup all day. Adams torched the Patriots defense for 6 catches for 121 yards. Now what are defenses supposed to do to stop the Packers?

If Adams is going to perform in that matter, then how are defenses going to react? You won’t be able to cover them all and that is what the Packers are counting on.

This is why Ted Thompson brought Adams onto the roster in the 2nd round of the draft. He wants to have as many playmakers on offense with Aaron Rodgers as he can. The move has been great and it will benefit the team in the stretch run. Adams won’t always have that stat line with the other playmakers on the roster, but his presence on the field cannot be ignored. He can be a playmaker if hte team needs someone else to step up.

Thompson has done a great job of stocking the team with rookie talent this offseason. He brought in Adams on offense and also drafted Corey Linsley on offense. Linsley has played so well that he is getting consideration for the Pro Bowl. On the defense the team added Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in the first round. There is some nice young talent on the roster for the future. Adams is one of the rising stars from this good looking crop.
