Been running all over the world today and when I got back onto the computer and plugged into the world one of the first pieces of news that I run across was about Kansas City Chiefs S Eric Berry. If you are unaware of the situation on the Pro Bowl safety, Berry was placed on the non-football related injury list with the possibility of lymphoma. The diagnosis had not been confirmed at the team, but it was confirmed today when he was officially diagnosed with Hodkin Lymphoma.

Let me start out with this, I am a San Diego Chargers fan and I normally love a little jab back and forth between Kansas City fans. You all are great sports fans though and have always been prett respectful in the jabs back and forth. I have talked back and forth with the fans across this FanSided network on Arrowhwead Addict a few times. I am part of the San Diego Chargers site Bolt Beat and have started up some trash talk sessions with Patrick Allen running that page.
For anyone that has no idea about the whole network aspect of that paragraph above, just visit the two pages for the respected teams and enjoy the content. Some of the best content in the network.
Anyway, the news on Eric Berry kills me. This is the type of incident where football is just thrown on the back burner and real life comes into play. Prayers are lifted for Eric Berry and the Kansas City fam on this one. In the end, we all share a passion for this sport and share the same type of passion for the people that play this game. These guys put their bodies on the line for our entertainment as modern day gladiators. When things like this happen, the rivalry can be pushed to the side. Reality steps in its place and we all can be fans of the people of this game. I will be a fan and root for him to beat this thing like the Chiefs beat up on the Patriots earlier in the year.
Prayers out to Eric Berry. Prayers out to his fam. Prayers out to all of Kansas City and all the fans. I love you all… except for in Week 17.
