The Cardinals have the worst rushing attack of all the playoff teams. They have been looking for someone to spark the running game all year and would be the most likely destination for Tate of all the playoff teams.
Stepfan Taylor is the team’s lead back on the roster at the moment and rookie Marion Grice is the backup. Taylor had 11 carries last week and finished the game with 19 yards. He had a decent performance against the St. Louis Rams in the previous week with 14 carries for 61 yards. This season, he has 56 carries for 182 yards and a touchdown for a 3.2 yard per carry average. He just took over the starting role with Andre Ellington going down with an injury.
Andre Ellington was expected to take the running game on his back this season, but he was placed on the IR earlier this month with a hernia. Before he was shut down for the year, Ellington had 660 yards with a 3.3 yards per carry average.
Tate could join the roster immediately and take the snaps with the first team once the playoffs start. There is a big question mark at the qarterback position as well. Will Drew Stanton be ready for the playoffs?
