December 28, 2014; Santa Clara, CA, USA; San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh addresses the media in a press conference after the game against the Arizona Cardinals at Levi

San Francisco 49ers: Jim Harbaugh will coach his alma mater Michigan per SportsCenter

The San Francisco 49ers and Jim Harbaugh have mutually agreed to part ways:

"“Jim and I have come to the conclusion that it is in our mutual best interest to move in different directions,” York said in the statement. “We thank Jim for bringing a tremendous competitive nature and a great passion for the game to the 49ers. He and his staff restored a winning culture that has been the standard for our franchise throughout its history. Their commitment and hard work resulted in a period of success that should be looked back on proudly by our organization and our fans. We wish Jim and his family all the best.” – ESPN"

Harbaugh finished his coaching career with the 49ers with a 44-19-1 record, 49-22-1 if you include the playoffs. In a league that is looking for results, that is one talented head coach that the 49ers allowed to walk away.

There were frequent clashes between Jim and GM Trent Baalke and that led to the decision to let Harbaugh walk.  Harbaugh will take the job with his alma mater Michigan. He almost took the same job in 2011, but he decided to head to the NFL and the Wolverines hired Brady Hoke instead.

Jim will be rumored as a head coach in the NFL again. His success in the NFL game will be a hot commodity and teams will be willing to give him the power that he is looking for to make roster decisions. We just wonder how long he will be out of the NFL.
