Most Valuable Player: Ryan Tannehill

This is the obvious decision here and it shouldn’t be close. In his third year in the league, Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill has matured at a steady level. Coming into the season some of his biggest critics questioned his leadership ability, deep ball accuracy and on field decision making. While his deep ball still needs some work, it has improved slightly. What has greatly improved, though, is his ability to lead the offense and perform on the field.

It started back in OTA’s. For the first time Tannehill was seen chewing out his teammates. This carried into training camp and throughout the season. After a slow start and his job apparently in question, Tannehill responded with one of the best quarterback seasons in Miami since Dan Marino was under center. It is clear that his decision making on the field has improved. He threw a career low twelve interceptions while completing a career high 66.4 completion percentage.

Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor has done a phenomenal job coaching the young quarterback and Tannehill has responded as expected. For the first time in his NFL career we have seen Tannehill prove his worth on the ground. At one point, Tannehill had five consecutive games with more than 30 yards rushing. His 311 yards was second best on the team.

A make or break year for Tannehill was a success. He has provided hope for a position that has battled through mediocrity. This season, Tannehill was the best player for the Miami Dolphins.
