Seattle Seahawks DC Dan Quinn: Head coaching profile

Seattle Seahawks DC Dan Quinn is one of the hot coaching prospects this offseason. He is getting a ton of interest from the different teams around the league for their head coaching vacancy.

He has already interviewed with the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday Night. He will interview with the New York Jets and Chicago Bears on Friday and will visit the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday (Albert Breer). He can only be reached for interviews this week while the Seattle Seahawks are on their BYE week .  He will not be available again until after the Seahawks are eliminated from the playoffs.

Quinn has been the defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks “Legion of Boom” defense for the last pair of seasons. That defense has been the top ranked defense in the league in both of his seasons coaching the team. Quinn took over the defense from Gus Bradley in Seattle. Bradley had the defense ranked in the top 10 before he took a coaching job with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Quinn helped the defense get to the next level.

NFL Analyyst Mike Mayock talked about the defense in the middle of December:

"“They won a Super Bowl last year,” Mayock explained, “because their defense was significantly better than any offense they played in the playoffs.” – NFL.com"

That Seahawks Super Bowl defense shut down Peyton Manning and that record setting Denver Broncos offense. Peyton Manning didn’t record a first down till the 2nd quarter in that game. The Broncos didn’t score until the 3rd quarter. The defense forced Manning to a pair of interceptions and the Seahawks won the game 43-8 in dominating form.

Seahawks DL Michael Bennett shared his thoughts on Quinn.

"“He’s one of the main reasons I have improved as a player,” defensive lineman Michael Bennett has said of Quinn’s impact. “Just the things he’s taught me, I took them and used them to get better.” – NFL.com"

Quinn drew some interest from the Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings last offseason.. He is getting interest again this season and could be the new head coach for some team next season.

Quinn has worked under these different head coaches at different times in his tenure in the NFL: Pete Carroll, Dennis Erickson, Eric Mangini, Steve Mariucci, Jim Mora and Nick Saban.
