San Diego Chargers. SAN DIEGO CHARGERS LINEBACKERS. C+. The Chargers banked on Dwight Freeney to bring sacks to South Bay. All he did in 2014 was bring salary cap issues. The Bolts leading tackler on the line backing corps was Donald Butler who had 73 total tackles, one sack, three tackles for loss and three fumble recoveries. The second highest is Kavell Conner with 70 tackles. Two other big presences were Andrew Gachkar (49 tackles and eight tackles for loss) and Jarret Johnson (51 tackles and five tackles for loss).
Overall the linebacker corps was not that bad in terms of passing game and coverage. The LBs did lack, however, the ability to stop the run. If they would like to deserve an A in the future, the linebackers need to record more tackles as well as intercept and defend more passes. Luke Kueckly is the model example of the player who constantly knows his surroundings before proceeding to play. If Jarret Johnson could train and be as good as Luke Kuechly, who knows the depths that this defense could reach.
. LB
