2).LB Junior Seau (1990-2002)

If there were ever to be an example of the toughest defensive player in Chargers history, it would be LB Junior Seau. Even after his unfortunate death in 2012, Junior Seau’s mark on San Diego will never be erased.

After being drafted in the first round out of USC, Seau produced 13 immensely productive seasons for the Chargers. In those 13 years, Seau averaged 98.92 individual tackles, 3.6 sacks and one interception and fumble recovery per season. His best season would had to have been in 1995 when he had 130 total tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, one forced fumble and three fumbles recovered.

His outstanding play did not go unrecognized, however, he was voted to 12 straight Pro Bowls from 1991-2002 and was named All-Pro six times. As well, he was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame 1st team All-1990s Team. He longevity with the team and ability to disrupt any play with his supreme tackling abilities make him one of the best defensive players for the Chargers.

May he forever rest in peace. He will always be remembered in San Diego and the National Football League as one of the most passionate and powerful men on the field.
