As the conference title games are set to get underway, I’ll take a look at the top performers from last weekend’s Divisional Round of the 2015 NFL playoffs.
10. DeMarco Murray, RB, Dallas Cowboys
Aside from a costly fumble, Murray had an outstanding performance. He had a clear path to the end zone if Julius Peppers hadn’t punched the ball out. With that said, Murray’s box score performance looks exceptional: 25 carries for 123 yards (4.9 yards per carry) and a rushing touchdown. The Divisional Round game against Green Bay was his 13th 100-yard rushing performance of the season, tops in the league by far.
After the Packers were held to a field goal following Murray’s fumble, the Cowboys’ star running back was instrumental in extending Dallas’s lead to eight points, its largest of the game. From Green Bay’s 27-yard line, Murray rumbled for 26 yards and then punched it in from a yard out on the next play. Of course, Dallas’s lead did not hold up but Murray, despite his fumble, was the best player on the field for Dallas last Sunday.
Murray and teammate Dez Bryant will be headed toward free agency in March.
