7. Randall Cobb, WR, Green Bay Packers
Dallas cornerback Orlando Scandrick did an excellent job on Jordy Nelson, but Cobb was able to get the best of his matchups against J.J. Wilcox. He recorded eight catches for 116 yards, a 14.5 yards per catch average. Like his teammate Davante Adams, Cobb stepped up when it mattered most.
With a minute left in the game – third down in Dallas territory – Cobb caught a pass from Aaron Rodgers for a first down to seal the deal. He did pick up a delay of game penalty for chucking the ball into the end zone, but nobody at Lambeau Field cared about that penalty. Had Cobb not caught that pass, Green Bay would have made or missed a field goal and Dallas would have still had a chance to either tie or take the lead.
Cobb did get away with a clear incomplete pass at one point (the nose of the ball hit the ground before Cobb could corral it), but made his best effort and was rewarded with a fortuitous call from the referees. Overall, Cobb had an excellent performance, and when he wasn’t catching passes, he drew double-teams from a cornerback and a safety to leave teammate Davante Adams one-on-one with Dallas’s third cornerback Sterling Moore.
