5. Russell Wilson, QB, Seattle Seahawks

Wilson is probably the best in the league at touch-passes. He is great at driving the ball downfield, but his best pass is the one that he lofts up over the heads of defenders. He’s mastered it. He made some outstanding plays with his legs once again against Carolina last Saturday. The touchdown pass to Jermaine Kearse – although Kearse may have pushed off – was a beauty.

Wilson completed 68.2 percent of his passes for 268 yards with three touchdowns and no picks. That equates to a passer rating of 149.2, by far the best of any Divisional Round playoff quarterback. He also added 29 rushing yards on seven carries – he led the NFL in yards per carry and rushing yards for a quarterback (849). By comparison, he outrushed Robert Griffin III in 2012 when he was fully healthy (820 yards).

Wilson’s performance was invaluable for Seattle. Without him, Carolina may have been much closer in that game. Of course, Seattle’s defense took care of business, but that shouldn’t take away from how well Wilson played.
